Glossybox May - 2nd Birthday Box

A month where I have sought out no spoilers for Glossybox, so all was to be the unexpected when I returned from work to my 2nd birthday edition Glossybox. I think not knowing what others have received helps keep a fresh mind, otherwise I end up with my fingers crossed for certain products...followed by jealous disappointment. Fun.

Firstly, I was a little let down that there was no specially designed box in honour of their birthday. Neon pink ribbon does however make up for this. Who can't find a use for neon pink ribbon?!

I have to be honest, My box was not the best. I will use just one of my five products so my £12.95 may have been best spent elsewhere this month.

Starting with a positive is the Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray. From the brand Paul Mitchell
It conditions and illuminates hair. I don't cut my hair very often and it looks a little dry at the ends. So I can certainly use this! It promises to add shine whilst it protects from daily wear and tear.
£18.95 for 125ml

Jelly Pong Pong - Fairy Lashes Mascara
I currently have 8 mascaras on the go so I don't need another. Glossybox aren't to know that of course.
I just really don't like Jelly Pong Pong as a brand. I have tried their products a number of times and just find them bad quality and a little too aimed at a younger demographic for my taste.
£15 for 8ml

Headline Colors nail polish
I got mine in the colour "Gunmetal" which is a dark grey with silver shimmer. Not a colour I would wear which is a shame. This is a new brand to me, I have never tried these polishes nor seen them in any shops whilst out on a cosmetics rage in Boots or the such like, so I don't know how easy they are to buy in regards to being readily available. It's nice to see a new brand in Glossybox though.
£9 for 10ml

Collection (formerly Collection 2000) - Fast Stroke Eyeliner
Collection... Collection 2000. You can change the brand name all you like, but for me, it's still got the stigma of being a budget teenage brand that I bought when I was 12 years old. I would never reach for this in my makeup bag. So I wont even bother putting it in there. This is a repeat brand from Glossybox and I'm really not thrilled.
£2.99 for 6ml

Beautiful Movements Cosmetics (formerly BM Beauty) - Prime and Create Mixing Medium
This sounds very interesting. It's a clear gel that has multiple uses. It can be used alone as a primer (although I tried it on my hand and it seem's very "siliconey' so may really block pores up) you can mix it with foundation or mix it with powder blushes or eyeshadows to make them into cream products.
£20 for 20g
2.5g sample

A little matchbox book of mini nail files as a little added birthday extra and a mini bar of Green and Black's Chocolate (the chocolate was for people that have been subscribed for over a year)

OK, so 4 out of 5 products were full size, which is brilliant...Isn't it?!
Personally I would prefer samples of amazing exciting brands rather than full sizes of products that take me back to my teen's and don't thrill me in the slightest.
Glossybox can't please everyone I guess.
This box has sat untouched since being first opened and photographed for this post.
The longer I get Glossybox, the longer I wonder if I should cancel and just buy a new MAC lippie (or something to that price range) each month instead?

  1. Your MAC lipstick comparison really brought me up short... I've only got 2 Glossyboxes, and ditching it for new lipsticks/similarly priced products sounds like a fantastic idea... Lovely post sweetie, it's a shame you got disappointed though :/ XX
